Consciousness - The Hidden Secret of a Long Life
Posted by admin on Nov 4, 2009
The average lifespan of a Human is almost certainly well under what it should be! Our organism is daily consumed by the poisons we create through emotional stress and a life out of balance.
Those who rise above the mind and its endless stream of thoughts have found the real secret of a long life. For thoughts generate feelings and feelings in direct conflict to love, beauty or peace do untold damage. Not just direct damage to our organism but to the world we experience.
The fact is, we spend far too much energy dwelling on thoughts of past or future events and all the emotional turmoil they bring!

Thoughts about Past and Future
What would we become and how would we look if we could rise above the mind and the games it plays?
Perhaps one such man who achieved this enlightened state was the Comte de Saint Germain. Voltaire said of him “A man who knows everything and who never dies”. For indeed, records suggest that for nearly 100 years he kept the appearance of a man between forty and fifty.
Origin unknown the Comte St Germain disappeared without trace. It was if the deception of his extraordinary power over the aging process became too much to bear in a world that was not ready for the secret he possessed!
Many believe he knew the secret of the philosophers stone, that which turns base metals into gold and bestows the user with the gift of immortality. I sometimes wonder if the reality was much simpler!
Could it be that the Comte St Germain was an extremely conscious individual. Like many before him and many after, his power of longevity was simply related to the degree of consciousness he leveraged in his life?
The answer we shall one day know but even without positive proof it is difficult to argue against the power of consciousness.
So, how do we access this manna from heaven, this greatest of gifts? Let’s look at some methods for bringing consciousness into your life.
Meditation
It’s difficult to put into words how one feels during deep meditation as the experience is beyond anything words can describe. But, what can be said is that meditation is a practice that develops the ability to perceive and know consciousness, a blissful inner peace that the majority of people rarely experience.
Unfortunately in the west, thinking we know better, the idea of meditation is often considered ‘off the wall’ - not to be taken seriously and a waste of time. But today, even science would disagree with this notion!
It has been positively proved that for meditators, heart disease is 80% lower and cancer is 50% lower. Meditators visit the doctor less frequently and there is also evidence that meditation slows down the ageing process. In his book, ‘The Relaxation Response’, Dr. Herbert Benson’s research showed that some of the direct effects of meditation included slower heartbeat and breathing, reduced oxygen consumption and increased skin resistance.
Meditation is the perfect antidote to stress!
When practiced regularly, meditators find a certain ‘flow’ in their everyday activities. Everything is achieved with much less effort and increasing awareness. Synchronicity is the order of the day.
These are moments of awakening - a realisation of how life is meant to be lived. Meditation really is one of the great secrets of longevity!
Living in the Moment
Have you ever noticed the countless thoughts that cross your mind?
If you have, then for a brief moment you became aware. In a fleeting moment you experienced that which is beyond thought, the “I” that transcends identity, the true source of pure consciousness.
On the whole we are wrapped up in our thoughts and identify with them in the mistaken belief that thoughts are what we are! This gives rise to separation in the sense our thoughts differ from everyone else’s. The true self though, is the observer of these thoughts. It is something clearly beyond the limitations of space and time.
The idea of separation, past and future are generated by thought in order for us to make sense of everything. Thought therefore gives rise to psychological time and determines how we age.
Simply put, the more our thoughts dwell in the past or the future, the quicker we age! When we live in the moment the less credence we give to time, the less we age.
Start to live in the moment by becoming aware of the thoughts you are having. Notice how most of these thoughts are thoughts about the past or the future. Observe, how they generally stop when you become aware. Now, take this opportunity to give attention to the moment.
Learn more about living in the present to stay young and live a long life!
Body Awareness
Consciousness pervades every cell of the body. You need only become aware of it to tap its enormous power.
It’s unfortunate that many believe you have to work at being a conscious individual. But, the reality is, the only thing that blocks you accessing this infinite power source is your own ego. Thoughts about yourself and your judgement of others is the ego’s way of preventing awareness.
If we would just allow our minds to settle, the way would be open to allow consciousness in.
If we can harness the full potential of consciousness through awareness then why do we find it so difficult?
It’s because our ego is in control. It wants to perpetuate the belief of separation, of past and future! It won’t let go without a fight. But the irony is we don’t have to fight it!
All we have to do is to become aware of its activity and then direct attention to the present.
One good way of doing this is to become aware of your body. Feeling the aliveness of your being brings you into the present and the source of all our power.
You can use this power to hold back the signs of aging. Not by ‘doing’ anything. Rather, just being aware!

Consciousness is the Key
Consciousness may indeed be key to the secret of a long life! It just might hold the secret of immortality. Just because there is no direct proof of this doesn’t mean to say that it isn’t so!

Thoughts on Happiness and achieving Immortality
Posted by admin on Mar 12, 2009
If you’ve ever read ‘The Lord of the Rings’ you’ll no doubt remember the intriguing character Tom Bombadil, a fearless character, completely contented with life and older than the hills. This unusual character seemed almost out of place in the book (probably the reason he was left out of the film) and with his obvious power over the ‘One Ring’ and his unconcerned outlook on events beyond his borders, he was a bit of an enigma. He seemed to possess the secret to achieving immortality and although purely fictional, Tom Bombadil is a character who can teach us something about anti aging.
For a start he was completely happy and happier people live longer. Aristotle wrote "happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence." This does not mean the type of happiness people use as a facade to show the external world. It refers to the true happiness that comes from inner peace and acceptance of the moment.
So how is it our main objectives in life appear to be related to wealth and material possessions? The vast majority seek happiness in things outside of themselves but this only leads to more unhappiness. It seems our thoughts on happiness are in opposition to where true happiness can be found.
True happiness can only found in the here and now and can never really be found by reaching a goal based on material wealth. Although goals can bring to a person favourable conditions they do not in themselves bring happiness. Neither does attachment to things. Do we really want to base our happiness on reaching a given state that might only last a moment?
There are also those that dwell in the past. Replaying past events and justifying their current condition denies them present moment happiness. Regrets take us away from the moment and lead us to unhappiness and the notion that we have been wronged leads to bitterness and hatred. In fact spending time dwelling on the past or future often leads us down a path of negative emotions. Worry, anxiety, depression, hatred and stress etc all contribute to the aging process because their effects play out in the physical world (our body).
So how do we change our thoughts on happiness and become happier?
Learn to accept the moment and do what you have to do. Be at peace with a situation and understand the problem is not the situation but only your reaction to it. Leave the past behind and once you have made your plans let the future take care of itself. Try to live by thinking ‘What is’ and not ‘what if’. Forgive yourself and those that have wronged you. Letting go of the past is one step towards lifelong happiness.
Be grateful for what you have and you open the door for more to come into your life. Have a purposeful life and set goals but enjoy each moment on the journey by becoming more aware. Share the fruits of your labours because identity (I have, you have not) like thoughts of the past and future can effectively block happiness. In fact, true happiness(bliss), peace and love transcend time - they are our gateway to the fountain of youth.

There is an idea that time is simply there to stop everything happening at once while space gives us the illusion of identity. When we are both ‘now’ and ‘here’ we transcend time and space to be ‘nowhere’. Perhaps this is the ultimate secret of achieving immortality and true happiness - no doubt Tom Bombadil would agree!

Successful Life Extension through Living in the Present
Posted by admin on Dec 29, 2008
What is the magic key to successful life extension?
Why do we Age?
The aging process is a fascinating subject simply because there doesn’t seem to be any good reason for it. It’s as if we age through some gene related inner command that remains illusive to modern science. You see, over comparitively short periods of time our bodies completely renew themselves - we undergo a complete cellular makeover. The cells we have now, for the most part, are not the same as those we had a year ago.
So, why do we age? Is it an individuals perspective of time (psychological time) that determines how they age? If a person lets the past and future continually dominate their attention will they not accumulate psychological time in their body and therefore suffer from premature aging. Notice how the "I" that observes our thoughts and actions does not change with time. It is always present and does not age as the physical body appears to.
Separation, Identity and Time
If you think that living in the present has no impact on life extension then take a look at the above Video. Eckhart Tolle is the author of the very successful book "The Power of Now". Believe it or not he is now in his sixties!
A belief in separation keeps us dwelling in either the past or future. Being continually controlled by the mind we are taken away from the moment by thoughts of past or future events. It’s these thoughts that give us our identity. After all, who would you be if all your memories of the past and all your projections of the future were taken away from you? You would have no concept of time because there would only ever be the present moment. You could not possibly identify yourself without historical reference or future projection.
Does this concept of separation or individual identity shorten our lifespan? Should we not be in control of our mind rather than it control us? By living in the moment the eternal "I" transcends identity and eliminates the psychological time of mind. We are taken away from identity and the realm of materiality to the part of us that is timeless and without age. Our whole cellular structure becomes filled with consciousness to experience lightness and clarity. Anyone who has tried meditation for any length of time will understand this feeling.

One of the true secrets to successful life extension is the ability to transcend physical time by moving away from the things that make it real - the mind and our belief in separation. We do this by living in the moment and observing our thoughts rather than being wrapped up in them.
