The Diet Solution Program Review - An End to Diet and Weight Loss Programs
Posted by admin on Mar 23, 2011
The first thing to get straight regarding the Isabel de los rios Diet Solution Program is that as the title suggests it’s not actually a diet! It’s not about losing weight quickly through reducing carbs, calories or fat but more about lifestyle change. It’s about putting an end to yo-yo dieting and finding a path to health. In fact, the introduction to the Diet Solution program manual makes it quite clear that health is the priority and the program should in no way be considered a temporary diet fix!
That said, if you are looking for a quick way to lose weight and revert back to your old eating habits (good or bad) then the Diet Solution Program is probably not for you. It took Isabel De Los Rios a good 3 years to adopt all the principles presented in the manuals and from the outset she recommends you take it at your own pace. The goal is to attain good health with the side effect of losing weight and not to lose weight while negatively impacting your health. The difference with this program (I’m not using the word diet here) and most other diets is that the principles you adopt are designed to stay with you for life, hence the name “diet solution”. The principles you adopt are entirely up to you and you introduce them at your own pace. It’s not about giving up the things you like but being able to recognise where they fit in your meal plan without impacting your health or weight.
To get a clearer picture of where our modern diet is taking us and why most of us need to make changes in our eating habits I suggest you read Anti Aging Secrets Advice from Nature. Overweight or not I hope this article highlights why health should be considered a priority - everything else will naturally fall into place.
Getting the Right Mindset
Before we can adopt anything new we need to have the right mindset, and in Chapter 1 the Diet Solution Program suggests using positive affirmations to accomplish this. For myself I think this chapter is a little short on material. When making big lifestyle changes it all starts in the mind. To quote “You are what you think about and not what you think you are”! If you are constantly dwelling on the negative aspects of body image etc you will keep getting the same results. You literally have to change your mind to change your circumstances and positive affirmations are just one way of doing this. Without developing new habits over extended periods of time it is difficult to keep old habits at bay. You have to be comfortable with the changes you make, so clearly having the right mindset is a key step in making any progress.
The Key Steps to a Healthy Eating Plan
One of the main pitfalls of many diets is that they don’t consider a person’s metabolism type. In the words of the author “the same-diet-for-everyone approach is simply not effective”. People not only have different rates of metabolism they can also be intolerant to certain types of food. Think of the African Americans’ sensitivity to salt or the comparison of lactose intolerance between Northern Europeans and the people of South East Asia. We all know someone who can eat fast/processed foods all day and not put on an ounce of weight. At the same time there are those of us who gain weight without too much effort! In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, knowing the types of food you can and can’t eat is extremely important.
One of key differences between the Diet Solution program and other diets is the initial step of learning your own metabolism type. From this you can create your personal meal plan and choose the best foods to accomplish your goals. These steps are outlined in chapter 2 and the section about choosing the best foods is well worth the read. My only criticism (see anti aging secrets advice from nature) would be to advise against too much animal protein in our diet. Yes, you can classify it as natural, in other words unprocessed, but is animal protein really healthy for humans?
Finding Your Metabolism Type
In chapter 3 of the diet solution manual the different metabolism types are described. In a separate manual (one of the downloadable products) you are asked a series of questions to determine your own metabolism type. Once you have determined your type you can use the information in chapter 3 to determine which foods you should be eating and therefore create an appropriate meal plan. The main point of the exercise is for you to find the right balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats for losing weight and achieving optimal health.
Calories and Common Misconceptions
In chapter 4 the author does a good job of clearing up some common misconceptions about calories. How, for instance, by eating the wrong combination of carbohydrates, proteins and fat you can end up losing more weight in the form of lean body mass rather than fat - this just highlights the importance of understanding your metabolism type.
There is one statement to the effect that having too few calories may cause serious health problems. In extreme cases I’m sure this is true but elsewhere there is strong evidence that a calorie restriction diet increases longevity. I think its important to understand that it’s more to do with where the calories a coming from. A low calorie diet rich in complex carbohydrates (vegetables, fruits etc) is going to have an entirely different impact on your health than a low calorie diet based on the simple carbohydrates indicative of junk food etc!
Although this diet is not about calories, they are used to determine the correct number of servings of each food type for each meal. There follows a simple weight loss formula to calculate your daily calorie intake. The book does say that you won’t need to think about calories again but I think this might be a mistake. A key term in the formula is your current weight. As you lose weight your daily calorie allowance will fall and correspondingly your serving allowance. If you carry a lot of weight you naturally burn more calories so it follows that you would expect to consume less calories as your weight falls.
Planning Daily Meals
Chapter 5 of the manual begins with meal planning. Once you have established your metabolism type and worked out your daily calorie requirements you can use the success journal (an additional download) to not only create your meal plans but monitor your progress. I know from experience with goal setting etc that you are far more likely to be successful by recording activities and monitoring results in a daily journal. By recording how you feel during the day, you can fine tune your meal plan until you’re always feeling satiated and energised.
The information provided to create your meal plans is well documented in both the allowable servings chart and the food choices chart. You are taken through each step to create your meal plan which is initially recorded in the success journal. There are a number of example meal plans (based on metabolism type) to help you on the way.
Having created your meal plan you have finished with section one of the diet solution manual.
Section 2 of the manual is a comprehensive guide to choosing the best foods for your diet plan and contains some useful guides and charts. It contains a lot of information that you could probably find on the Web but even so is a well structured complement to the rest of the manual.
Summing Up
Overall the Diet Solution Program provides good value for money but will take a little effort to implement. Although the Diet Solution Program manual is at the heart of the product, a number of complimentary books are available for download, not least among them a complete set of meal plans, a shopping guide and a book of recipes. I personally opted for some additional downloads and I’m quite impressed with both the recipe book of soups and the recipe book of salads.
It goes without saying that whatever type of diet you choose there will always be some conflicting information about what you should and shouldn’t eat! The good thing about this program is that it’s flexible enough to accomodate your own preferences and beliefs. The fact that you fine tune your meal plans to leave you feeling great and full of energy is not a bad start if you intend the Diet Solution Program to be a lifetime experience.

A Review of the AliveMax Anti Aging Oral Spray
Posted by admin on Jun 11, 2009
My initial reaction to any new health product that hits the market is one of caution. My reaction to the AliveMax anti aging product was no different!
After all, how many different ways can minerals and vitamins be packaged and sold as the latest and greatest breakthrough in the health industry?
And, although I agree there might be some value in these products when you consider that the nutritional value of most the food we eat is pretty poor. I seriously doubt they’re of any more benefit than what nature can provide!
The fact is most supplements are probably over processed and any goodness they may contain, the body would find difficult to extract any nutritional value. We don’t question how bad refined sugar is for our body but taken in the way nature intended (as a whole fruit or vegetable) it’s delivered in just the right form.
Plants like humans are balanced systems. The stuff of nature we are able to eat is combined in the perfect format for human consumption. The more we process something and take away its inherent aliveness, I suspect the less nutritional value it has.
But let’s face it much of the fresh food (including fruits and vegetables) we buy has poor nutritional value. one reason I advocate drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juice - you are able to consume the nutrients of many plant foods in just one power drink. It’s not so easy to consume so many of them in their raw form. And believe me it takes a lot to get the nutrients we really need!
In a way, this is what piqued my interest in the AliveMax anti aging serum.
Not just one anti aging nutrient was in the spot light but twelve, no less (See anti aging ingredients for a full list of benefits)! And, even though It’s easy to consume the RDAs of vitamins and minerals when drinking fruit and vegetable juice, I’m always interested in adding a little extra to assist in the fight against aging. This is especially true when some of the ingredients like Resveratrol and Acai Berry have such positive press.
But this is not the main reason I decided to make an investment in this product!
Ever since I became interested in nutrition I have learnt that more energy and goodness is extracted from food when it is chewed for longer. One reason for this is that vitamins and nutrients are more readily absorbed into the bloodstream via the mouth than when they are ingested through the stomach. One important reason for chewing your food longer is that the enzymes in saliva begin the digestive process and help break the food down for further digestion. So, even when drinking fruit and vegetable juice it’s recommended to swill it around a bit first.
Now this is where the AliveMax product has a competitive advantage. The nutrients are delivered as a spray for maximum absorption! Because the spray is nutrient dense and delivered orally the method is far more effective than taking a pill. According to the manufacturer up to 98% of the nutrients are absorbed beating even intra muscular injection as a delivery method.
Although you can’t avoid the fact the product is manufactured and is therefore to a certain extent processed, it is mostly the juice concentrate of plants and fruits found in a variety of places throughout the world - some of which are hard to find in your local supermarket.
As of this writing I have been taking the anti aging serum for 3 months now and I can highly recommend the company behind the product. The spray is far easier to use and more practical than taking pills and obviously a better and highly effective way of delivering the powerful anti aging nutrients.

Home Oxygen Therapy - A Review of the One Minute Cure
Posted by admin on Jan 29, 2009
STOP! - Before reading any further, find out more about Ingested Oxygen Therapy. An informed decision is always a better one!
The first thing to say about "The One Minute Cure: The Secret to Healing Virtually All Diseases" is that in the Authors own words, "the information herein (meaning the Ebook) is not intended to replace a one-on-one relationship with a doctor or qualified health care professional". Although, doctors and medical practitioners throughout Europe have been using ingested Oxygen Therapy for many years, in the US, it is still relatively unknown - the reasons of which are made clear throughout the book. Please take heed of the above warning. Ingested Oxygen therapy can be dangerous without due consideration for the correct doses of hydrogen peroxide etc, or consideration of current medical conditions. Indeed, the whole subject concerning food grade hydrogen peroxide for curing disease is fraught with controversy!
The book written by Madison Cavanaugh is packed with information regarding ingested oxygen therapy (hydrogen peroxide in particular) and very well written. It’s one of the few books I’ve found that meet the expectations of the sales letter.
The introduction starts out with an overview of current medical practice and how it has evolved into an overcomplicated system of healing. We learn something of why it’s currently not working and how in terms of percentage there are more sick people in the US than ever before. As the author rightly states, medicine in the west is more to do with treating illness than actually preventing it in the first place. The fact that we are focused on illness rather than wellness, basically promotes profit driven treatment. Unfortunately, treatment based on profit is not always in the best interests of the patient - should we relinquish total control of our health to doctors, medical establishments or the pharmaceutical industry?
The book then covers the importance of oxygen and how hyperbaric (high pressure) oxygen therapy is used to treat many health conditions including emphysema, asthma, pulmonary disease, pneumonia and carbon monoxide poisoning. There are also many other controversial claims with regard to curing cancer, hiv, arthritis, eczema, acne and other diseases. The author discusses a theory that nearly all disease is related oxygen deficiency and how oxygen as a form of treatment for other diseases has largely been overlooked.
Chapter 1 starts out by stating that the oxygen therapy presented within does not actually "cure" disease, but rather creates an environment where disease can’t exist. The body therefore heals itself by creating a disease free environment.

There follows a really good critique on the big business of medicine and disease. How the pharmaceutical industry has more to gain by manufacturing drugs that relieve the symptoms of disease and less to do with curing the disease. Also, how so called fictitious diseases have been invented to further capitalize on what really amounts to poor nutrition in the modern diet! The huge market for nutritional products also comes under the hammer with a lot of examples of unsubstantiated health claims and hoaxes that have not only taken money from the publics pocket but in some cases resulted in negative impacts on their health.
The author then goes on to explain how he came across the form of oxygen therapy outlined in the book and why for something that had been around for such a long time, it is not more commonly practiced? The reasons why are clearly explained and are again mainly aimed at the profit driven pharmaceutical industry. But the idea that this form of oxygen therapy, ingested in the form of diluted hydrogen peroxide or otherwise, is very cheap and not motivated by profit - I think is a bit misleading or a clever form of misdirection! The therapy itself may of course be very cheap but being skeptical I can’t help thinking that the book itself is sold for a profit - placing a bias on what it has to say!
Chapter 2 talks about the most feared diseases in America (Cancer etc)and how the type of oxygen therapy detailed has effectively cured people suffering from these diseases. Personally, I would appreciate more evidence in this section because the statements made are highly controversial. However, some doctors are referenced by name to have had some success with oxygen therapy.
After this we are told what oxygen therapy is and a little about its history. It is interesting to note, the authors claim that a good breathing regime is not a good substitution for the oxygen therapy recommended. Elsewhere I have read that too much oxygen is not good for you and the body limits concentrations of oxygen in the major organs. Only 15% of the oxygen you inhale is absorbed by the blood. It might be that in polluted cities not enough oxygen is absorbed to maintain a healthy body although it appears that even over long periods of time there has been little change in the levels of oxygen in the atmosphere. Perhaps we are somehow living an oxygen-depleting lifestyle. I would argue that we’ve also lost the ability to breathe correctly and that oxygen therapy is perhaps one way of restoring the balance.
Following the history of oxygen therapy there is a little bit about why it works so well. This is backed up by scientific evidence from around the world including research done by a Nobel prize winner and work carried out by some eminent doctors.
Chapter 3 talks about the use of oxygen therapy and how it can be simply administered at home. It tells why oxygen therapy maximises delivery of oxygen to the cells to cure and prevent disease and goes on to cite yet more evidence from around the world where oxygen therapy has been successfully used - a list of treated diseases is given. Then follows, an interesting section on how oxygen therapy has helped people with many of the ailments we commonly associate with modern living.
The chapter continues with what the doctors are saying, all good, obviously!
In Chapter 4 we learn about the correct dosage to use and the different forms of application. It’s a chapter well worth reading simply because of the safety aspects and other things you might expect when undergoing oxygen therapy treatment.
Other applications of the compound used in this form of oxygen therapy are discussed. It is interesting to note how both good and bad bacteria are effected by the treatment.
Chapter 5 shows how the compound used in this form of oxygen therapy is a naturally occurring substance. An interesting point is made about the spring water found in the Hunza area of the Himalayas. The spring water contains high levels of the active compound. My interest is peaked because the people in this area are known to live much longer than average.
Have our bodies become accustomed to living with less oxygen? This is the question raised next. I’m not sure I agree with the argument that oxygen is depleted because of rainforest destruction. As stated above the oxygen levels of our atmosphere have remained unchanged for many a century. Of course, more CO2 means less oxygen but even over the last 40 years the difference is negligible. That said, there are other factors which probably effect our own levels of oxygen - like the food we eat, how much we eat, our habits, the water we drink and pollution etc.
Chapter 6 is concerned with the controversy surrounding oxygen therapy, particularly the arguments that on the surface appear to contradict a lot of mainstream theory. Comparisons are made with homeopathic treatments that also make use of small doses of what otherwise would be dangerous chemicals.
The econonomic impact of a widespread use of oxygen therapy is then discussed. Basically, we don’t hear about treatments like oxygen therapy because there is no money to be made. The cost of such treatment can be as little as one and a half cents a day!
There follows an appendix that discusses the impact stress has on the treatment and that about wraps it up.
Reading between the lines it would seem that oxygen therapy has had a raw deal as far as the medical establishment is concerned. This might be because there has been very little research in the area but as the author suggests, it could also be that widespread uptake would generate very little profit. This is especially true when you consider the treatment is targeting the whole body and not just a part. This to me is extremely important and one of the reasons oxygen therapy appeals. All treatment should be none invasive. It should not attack everything to kill one thing. Why cure something if we are going to cause further problems down the line. An interesting fact is that people who are cured of a big killer like cancer using conventional drugs are only expected to live on average a further nine and a half years instead of the 30 to 40 one would expect! Why is this? Because, something comes along and
takes its place. To add serious years to your life you have to lower your risk to all diseases and you can’t do this by loading your body with drugs that not only kill good cells, as in cancer treatments, but destroy your immune system.
